About

The purpose of this blog is to provide a space for women to discuss their experiences surrounding tefillin and tzitzit (both tallit katan and tallit gadol). In the spirit of "the personal is political," the role of this virtual space is to be a place for advocacy via women's sharing of their stories.

The title, "V'Tzivanu," is taken from the blessings typically said by Jews upon the performance of mitzvot. It literally means "who commanded us." This blog will explore the idea of "commandedness" and obligation as it pertains to women wearing ritual garments.
